Hi, My name is
Mike Flanagan and I would like to share with you how God's Plan began and why I have a heart to reach and help people with struggles.
In August 2016, a
friend of mine inspired me to wonder what it would be like to be with a bunch of lads out in the countryside camping, under the evening sky and by an open fire. I was very intrigued by this as I had
just returned from a camping trip myself and discovered the peace I had and the closeness I felt with God. As I thought more about this idea I really wanted other men to experience it, and I knew who
to ask to come with me.
With support from
my Church at the time, myself and five men went camping to Loch Lomond. Some of the men were not Christian but we all shared physical, mental and spiritual problems. Whilst there, I shared my
testimony about how the Lord set me free from my problems and burdens and also how the Lord released me from the strongholds that were in my life. This allowed the others to begin to open up about
their personal struggles. I introduced some of the lads to prayer and explained the importance of using prayer in their daily lives. I would pray with them in a group and individually. These five men
and I discovered a powerful feeling, something they had not felt before that weekend away, a feeling of new friendships, brotherly love and the love of the Lord.
These men returned
with a willingness to get to know Christ and started an Alpha Course at a local Church, where some of them gave their lives to Christ. These men are now willing to support their communities by giving
some of what they received back!
Because God had
all this planned, the finances, the transport, the location, the equipment and the lads to come, that's why I called it Gods Plan and knew I needed to do this again with a different set of men. We
have now done several trips to Loch Lomond and are now also using a residential facility in Girvan, ran by Jericho.
God's Plan is not
just for men but is for everybody. We are in the process of taking families away to Girvan for a short holiday. These families work hard to survive with what they have, while dealing with problems. A
holiday is the last thing they would think about. This is why we are taking them away to give them a break. We are also looking to start up a Gods Plan for women.
In 2017 I became a member of the The Haven East Kilbride, which is a new church in Auldhouse, East Kilbride. They had the same heart to help people and had a property
that was being converted for this purpose. I was already bringing up some of then men to meet Doug & Pippa, the leaders, and some men started to come up regularly to help them out around the
property. At the end of 2017, Gods Plan came under the ministry of The Haven. This strengthened the arm of Gods Plan, as our visions were the same and gave Gods Plan the legal structure and support
it needed. Gods Plan is now a ministry of The Haven.
This relationship has allowed the men to connect with The Haven, which offers them practical help as well as spiritual. 'Beginning the Way' is a course that The Haven
runs for anyone who is interested in knowing more about the Christian faith and God. It also allows individuals to get their hands dirty by helping up on the farm doing odd jobs around the
We look forward to seeing how God will use this ministry and the lives
that will benefit for our help and support. The Haven is a church and relies on donations to support and fund the work/projects it runs. All donations for Gods Plan goes toward funding the trips and
other activities this ministry may run for those it helps.

And Guess what?
God has it planned!!!
But when the
Pharisees saw this, they asked his disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?” When Jesus heard this, he said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do.” Then he added, “Now go
and learn the meaning of this Scripture: ‘I want you to show mercy, not offer sacrifices.’ For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.”
Matthew 9:11-13 NLT
