Mission

We at The Haven not only believe in local mission but also global mission.  Jesus did not just come for those who were in the local community.  A number of His followers left their local community to reach those in the next town, region and country.

We want to help and support those who serve in another country to share the Gospel and to fulfil their call in God.  We aim do this through finances, pastoral care and raising awareness for others to support them.

David & Jenny: Thailand

David & Jenny are missionaries in Chiang Mai, Thailand working with Christian Outreach Centre (COC). They have also served in China and Hong Kong, while working for Mothers Choice, Mothers Love and Language Recordings. They have two children who are now living and studying in the U.K. Callum is doing an apprenticeship with Amey (civil engineering) in Swindon and Erin is about to start a Graphic design course at De Montford University, Leicester. Callum and Erin have lived the majority of their lives in Thailand.

COC is an Australian church planting and bible school organisation. However, their Thailand base is much more than that. It aims to support the needs that are found within Thailand itself but also the surrounding countries. Within a three hour flight from Chiang Mai, you can reach a third of the worlds population. COC Thailand has many arms of ministry including an international school, missionary training program, church planting & evangelism and developing national lleaders.

They also have a disaster relief & aid ministry that were one of the first Christian groups to send in medical teams for the recent earthquake in Nepal. In the 2004 tsunami, they were heavily invovled in both relief & aid as well as the rebuilding stage. They also have the Haven Childrens home, which are to assist and care for desperate and vulnerable children who are true orphans or come from extremely dangerous enviroments, including those at risk of being sold to traffickers and enslaved into a life of prostitution. Haven Children’s Homes have been established throughout Thailand and in several Asian countries.

David, & Jenny, along with their daughter Erin, came to share at the Haven this summer about Thailand and about the mission they are involved in. It was a good evening of worship, information and fellowship. The Haven was able to bless them with a financial gift, which was taken up on the night. We will keep you up to date with their progress over the coming year.

American Mission Trip

22-26th August 2016, The Haven was blessed to have a team of three Americans come and do some work. The team is a specific building group who are sent out on various mission trips to solely help with construction and manual work. They come from Bowling Green, Kentucky and are a part of Living Hope Baptist church. In 2014, Doug and Pippa went on a mission trip to Living Hope with a team from Calderwood Baptist church for ten days. Living Hope often send out a team to support the work at Calderwood Baptist, yet this time Calderwood offered the team to help at the Haven.

It was great to spend time with the three guys sharing testimony, ministering to one another and working hard on a couple of projects. We hope this won't be the last time we have a team from the States come over and a gratefull for their support. Here are a few pics of the week.
