Fellowships

A new command I give you. Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disicples, if you love one another...Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number those being saved. (John 13:34-35; Acts 2:46-47)

Our Fellowships

The Haven in Kingstanding was birthed after the Covid Pandemic in 2021. They meet in homes and have two groups meeting in week, and are increasing in number.

East Kilbride is a large town on the fringes of Glasgow, Scotland. This fellowship was planted in 2014 and has seen many people helped and discipled over those years.

It is based on a farm, which is being converted for the purposes of the fellowship in East Kilbride but also to help equip leaders for the new fellowships that will be planted in the future and those who are currently leading the fellowships.

Similar to Kingstanding, the Derby Haven Fellowship was a product of Covid and was planted around a similar time. They to meet in a members home in Derby City. Recently, there has been another group started in Belper, just north of Derby City.

Why Focus on Fellowship?

Fellowship is important because it was the main focus of Jesus and the basis of all His instructions and commands. For example, Jesus wanted to focus our attention on greater things and the Kingdom of God, but He wants us to do so by doing small things.

His disciples asked, 'who can enter the Kingdom of Heaven?' and Jesus replied that those who sacrifice will enter. When asked, 'how did we serve you?' Jesus responded by saying that when you fed the hungry and gave water to the thirsty. Huge consequences for little actions.

Fellowship is no different. Church, Bride of Christ, Army of God all have huge meaning and depth behind them. To focus on them and try to achieve these divinely huge goals would lead us to failure. However, Jesus commands us to be relational by making disciples (telling someone else how you follow Christ), and to love as Christ loves you.

The truth of the matter is simple and one in which the Haven feels needs to be restored to church as a whole. If we focus on 'church' (as many have come to view it today) we will miss out on fellowship but, if we focus on fellowship, then we get closer to church/ekklesia. True fellowship of a few will experience and get closer to the Church Christ is building quicker than 500 people wanting to 'do church'. Fellowship and discipleship makes the Church.

The Haven wants to follow this New Testament model of focusing on fellowship and discipleship, so that, we can become a better and stronger body for Christ. We believe that focusing on building a stronger personal relationship with Christ and one another, we can bring glory to the Father and demonstrate it to the world.

Therefore, our aim is to plant a fellwoship within a town/city and as it grows to a certain size, say 20 or 30, then look to split the original group and form a second group. As this continues, there would be multiple fellowships meeting across that town/city but forming one church as a whole, The Haven. Each fellowship would have a pastor/elder to care, feed and protect the members within.

Each fellowship would run independently of one another but all under the same biblical vision. This seems to reflect the heart and practice of the early church we see in the New Testament. Once a month we encourage all those individual fellowships in the same town/city to gather as a larger group for worship, testimony and teaching. We call this 'TOGETHER'.

If you would like to get in touch about any of these fellowships then please contact us via the link below and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible. Alternatively, if you would like to learn more about the Haven Vision then please cick to 'vision' link.
